FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention represents a differential diagnostic technique for iron deficiency anaemia and anaemia of chronic disease involving using an enzyme immunoassay to detect hepcidin-25 in blood serum; if the measured hepcidin-25 level increases more than 11.8 ng/ml, anaemia of chronic disease is diagnosed, whereas the value decreasing less than 4.33 ng/ml enables diagnosing iron deficiency anaemia.
EFFECT: more accurate and reliable diagnosing of anaemia of chronic disease by measuring hepcidin-25 that is a bioactive part of prohepcidin.
