FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: in the existing method for nonlinear radar positioning, involving emitting a probing signal, whose amplitude is modulated according to a saw-tooth law, in the direction of a nonlinear object, receiving and picking up the response signal on two channels at frequencies of the second and third harmonics of the probing signal and recognition of the type of nonlinear object with respect to amplitude of output signals of the channels, N equal and equidistant time intervals are further selected on the time interval during which the radio pulse of the response signal is received from the nonlinear object. Fourier transform of the received signal is performed on each of said time intervals and the relationship between the amplitude-frequency spectrum |s(0)| of the response signal and the amplitude of the probing signal is recorded, from the type of which the type of nonlinearity is determined. The essence of the disclosed method lies in recording the relationship between the amplitude-frequency spectrum of the response signal received from the nonlinear object and the amplitude of the probing signal for angular frequency ω=0 and display thereof together with levels of the response signal at frequencies of the second and third harmonics of the probing signal for recognition of the type of nonlinearity of the probed object.
EFFECT: high probability of correct recognition of type of the probed nonlinear object owing to obtaining additional information on its transfer characteristic.
