FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: internal combustion engine with spark ignition includes mechanism (A) with variable compression degree, which is capable of changing the mechanical compression degree, and mechanism (B) for adjustment of gas distribution phase, which is capable of controlling the closing phase of inlet valve (7). Suction of air flow supplied to internal combustion chamber is controlled mainly by changing the selection of closing phase of inlet valve (7) so that mechanical compression degree is set higher during engine operation at low load than during engine operation at high load. Mechanical compression degree during engine operation at low load prior to completion of internal combustion engine warm-up is set lower than after engine warm-up during operation at low load. Though expansion degree during engine operation at low load improves mileage of automobile, catalytic exhaust gas neutraliser can be heated quickly and deterioration of waste gas emission can be suppressed during the engine cold start-up. Versions of design of internal combustion engine are described.
EFFECT: increasing fuel consumption efficiency during engine operation at low loads; reducing deterioration of waste gas emission during cold start-up.
