SUBSTANCE: apparatus (100) for time-of-flight (TOF) position emission tomography (PET) has a detector (106), a data collection system (120), a coincidence detecting system (122) and a reconstruction unit (129). Various elements of the viewing channel affect time resolution of the system (100) such that data on positrons collected on different actuating lines are distinguished by different time resolution. Different time resolutions are used to estimate coordinates of detected events on their corresponding actuation lines.
EFFECT: high quality of resultant image data.
