VIRTUAL FRAMES FOR DISTRIBUTION TIME-OF-FLIGHT DATA RECONSTRUCTION IN LIST MODE WITH CONTINUOUS TABLE MOVEMENT Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61B6/00 G01T1/29

Abstract RU 2640787 C2

FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to positron emission tomography (PET). The PET system contains memory configured to continuously record discovered matching pairs of events detected by the PET detectors, a subject support to support the subject and to move in the continuous movement mode through the field of vision of the PET-detectors, a grouping unit for grouping the recorded coincident pairs into each of the plurality of spatially constrained virtual frames on the basis of time-of-flight information. The detected events of some of the detected coincident event pairs are located in two different virtual frames, and the grouping unit allocates a matching pair of events to one of the two virtual frames, and the block of reconstructing the grouped coincident pairs of each virtual frame into an image frame and combining the frame images into a common elongated image. The PET method contains stages, which moves the subject on the subject support continuously through the field of view of the PET-detectors, groups the recorded coincident event pairs in each of the plurality of spatially constrained virtual frames on the basis of time-of-flight information. The grouping stage includes the stage, which distributes the coincident pairs of one of two virtual frames where the detected coincident pair of events is in two different virtual frames, remodels the grouped coincident events of each virtual frame in the overall elongated image. The PET time-of-flight system contains a grid of the PET-detectors, which detects and records coincident events in the list mode, the subject support, one or more processors configured to group the recorded coincident pairs of events in one of the plurality of the spatially limited virtual frames when the coincident events of one of the coincident pairs of events are grouped into related virtual frames, to distribute these two overlapping events to the common virtual frame based on time-of-flight information, to reconstruct the frame image from each virtual frame and to combine the frame image in the continuous elongated image.

EFFECT: use of inventions allows to obtain a distributed reconstruction of data in the list mode with a continuous table movement.
