FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and may be used for forging, die or sheet forming, in power rammers for pile driving, etc. Hammer ram has cavity to house ball-like fillers. Quantity of balls is adjusted. To lock sais balls, springs are used to act on balls by force equal to or exceeding bal weight. Weight of balls makes 20-50% of hammer ram weight. Ram weight-to-ball weight ratio varies from 2·103 to 3·103. Said cavity with balls may be arranged axially or represent lateral ring-like or cylindrical cavities.
EFFECT: higher deformation of billet, reduced spring-back effect.
