FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves introduction to the lead and magnesium melt of zirconium and nitrogen components providing formation of protective layer so that enriched lead-containing melt is obtained, and contact of lead-containing melt with metal surface during not less than 20 hours is provided. Temperature of lead-containing melt is maintained in the range of 923 K to 973 K, magnesium concentration in enriched lead-containing melt is provided in the range of 0.08 to 0.25 atomic fractions; zirconium concentration is maintained in the range determined from the ratio . Nitrogen concentration in enriched lead-containing melt is provided equal to zirconium concentration, but nor exceeding 0.7 of magnesium concentration in enriched lead-containing melt.
EFFECT: increasing the service life of the items processed by means of the proposed method.
