ROAD SCRAPER FOR JOINTING CRACKS IN ASPHALT CARPETS Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC E01C23/09 

FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: road disc scraper for jointing cracks in asphalt carpets is made of a set of separate discs of various diameters, besides, the central disc is made with a diameter, a working zone of milling, equal to the thickness of the upper layer of the coating and at least half of the total thickness of the asphalt carpet layers. The width of the gang disc scraper should provide for covering of a crack along the entire length relative to the axis of trajectory of the main crack. Design of the road disc scraper for jointing cracks in the asphalt carpet makes it possible to develop a T-shaped profile of a weak spot, comprising two areas: walls for subsequent filling of a cold bitumen mastic and shelves for laying a repair layer of asphaltic concrete, for instance, from macadam and mastic asphalt concrete with high content of bitumen. The vertical wall filled with the cold bitumen mastic serves as a hydraulic lock for penetration of surface water as a rectilinear crack is formed at a certain stage of coating operation as a result of repair material ageing. Repair of such a crack in spring period will only consist in cleaning of crack trajectory from dust and dirt by processing with compressed air and subsequent adhesion of crack edges by means of surface heating of a strip with partial application of bitumen on the crack.

EFFECT: development of the road scraper for repair of the asphalt carpet with cracks of temperature origin, increased crack resistance of asphalt carpets, reduced cost and labour intensiveness of operations aimed at repair of asphalt carpets with frost cracks.
