FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises measuring the distance to water surface from tome delay in signal reflected from water surface by means of concentrated receiving-emitting system. Concentrated receiving-emitting system inclination angles and slowly varying inclination angle components are defined. Distance from receiving-emitting system level along vertical to that of reflection from water surface is calculated from inclination angles and distance from receiving-emitting system to water surface. Vertical displacement of said system is calculated. Sea wave profile is defined. Wave height and other motion statistic characteristics are defined.
EFFECT: higher accuracy and efficiency of determination.
