FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of producing titanium dioxide in a cylindrical tubular reactor via oxidation of titanium tetrachloride involves reaction of titanium tetrachloride and an oxygen-containing gas fed into the reactor in the axial direction and then cooling the formed particles. Titanium tetrachloride is fed in the cross-sectional plane of the tubular reactor with deviation from the radial direction of said reactor. The rate of flow of the oxygen-containing gas is kept at not more than 20 m/s.
EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of removing titanium dioxide deposits from the inner walls of the tubular reactor and the cooling zone in the reactor using abrasive particles, and obtain titanium dioxide with a narrower particle size distribution.
