FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of disinfecting water involves exposing water microorganisms to ultraviolet radiation, where microorganisms are deposited from the treated water under the effect of an electric field onto the surface of a positively charged electrode and water from which the microorganisms have been deposited is drained off. Further, the surface of the electrode onto which the microorganisms have been deposited is extracted from the water into air and then treated with a dose of ultraviolet radiation in the range of 16 to 17 mJ/cm2, after which the electrode is once more immersed in water and said procedures are repeated once more. The method is realised using an apparatus having a vessel for disinfecting water, water inlet and outlet pipes and ultraviolet lamps inside the vessel for disinfecting water. The central part of the electrode, which is made from electrically conducting material in form of a flat circular disc, is rigidly mounted to the part of the shaft inside the vessel for disinfecting water.
EFFECT: high efficiency of disinfecting water, preventing organic and mineral deposits from water, longer service life of the lamps.
