FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: light modulator has a first electric conductor, a second electric conductor electrically insulated from the first conductor, a first and a second display element. If the potential difference between the first and second conductors exceeds the value of a first activation voltage, the first display element is in activated state, and if this potential difference is less than a first switch-off voltage, the first display element is in off state. If the potential difference between the first and second conductors exceeds the value of a second activation voltage, the second display element is in activated state, and if this potential difference is less than a second switch-off voltage, the second display element is in off state. Either the activation voltages are equal and the switch-off voltages are different, or activation voltages are different and the switch-off voltages are equal.
EFFECT: providing several methods of making driver circuits for complex displays with interferometric modulators, which enable to reduce the degree of complexity and cost of the driver circuit by introducing higher functional constraints and tighter manufacturing tolerance in devices with interferometric modulators.
