FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to the field of agriculture, in particular, to veterinary science. The method to detect harmfulness of insects of "mosquitoes" complex for cattle includes assessment of these insects influence at productivity of animals. Comparative quantitative harmfulness of mosquito component individuals is assessed by average mass of their females, which sucked blood. Harmfulness in relative size of reduction of injured animals productivity is calculated depending on average abundance of parasitising insects. They are detected in the periods of highest daily activity of insects during the season of mass summer. One-shot, 5-minute, 15-minute or daily counts are carried out on animals in a herd or by whip-top-like traps on a pasture. Counts are carried out based on according versions of formulas proposed for this purpose.
EFFECT: production of more accurate data on expected extent of animal productivity reduction depending on abundance of parasitising insects on them from "mosquitoes" complex.
