FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: to detect aerosols, signal scanning is carried out using passive infrared spectrometers on a cloud of toxic substance containing a finely dispersed aerosol with particle diameter less than 50 mcm, density greater than 100 mg/m2, not less than 3% and having heat contrast of not less than 2°C, and substances are identified from maximum correlation coefficient of the signal spectrum with standard spectra from a database of toxic substances obtained in static measurement conditions for induced aerosols.
EFFECT: invention increases operating speed of location systems and specificity of detecting a given list of toxic substances.
