SUBSTANCE: liquid crystal display device implies the external video signal to control the LCD panel excitation and backlight device excitation. The backlight device has a multiplicity of light intensification areas located on LED substrates for a multiplicity of display areas of the LCD panel, wherein the active backlight excitation divided into areas is performed for the excitation with lighting the LEDs located in the light intensification areas unit. When the backlight data processing unit (the backlight control unit) determines that the brightness signal value prescribed for the blue LED (light source of the prescribed color) is exceeding the brightness signal value prescribed for other LEDs or that the brightness signal value prescribed for the blue LED multiplied by the given coefficient is equal or exceeding the brightness signal value prescribed for other LEDs, it intensifies the brightness of other LEDs using the brightness parameters prescribed for the blue LED.

EFFECT: enhanced colour reproduction.
