SUBSTANCE: method of estimating moisture content of paste-like materials in a roll-band drier involves successive movement of the material through drying chambers and real-time contactless indirect measurement of moisture of the material. Signals are obtained from a plurality of sensors installed in the n-th chamber which is most stressed on moisture removal. The signals are normalised and transmitted to inputs of a trained neural network, at the output of which an estimate is obtained of the moisture content of the material during its drying through contactless indirect measurement. The neural network is trained based on standard measures in the adaptive range of the n-th chamber with fixed accuracy.

EFFECT: rapid real-time estimation of moisture content of moving paste-like material when drying in order to control the drying process so as to ensure quality of the dried material.
