FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical heat treatment of articles produced by powder metallurgy procedure, namely, to nitration. Method of producing articles from steel granules with increased 0.45-0.6%-content of nitrogen comprises saturating said granules with nitrogen in compaction. Compaction is carried out in capsule wherein, prior to compacting, nitrogen surplus pressure of 15-30 atm is created to ensure required nitrogen concentration.
EFFECT: higher nitrogen content and uniform distribution of nitrogen in compacted article.
