SUBSTANCE: display has a plurality of pixels containing image elements, each having a reflecting surface which can be placed at a distance from a partially reflecting surface. The plurality of image elements contains at least one of said plurality of image elements which is capable of emitting colour light, and at least one of said plurality of image elements which is capable of interference emission of white light. The plurality of image elements capable of emitting colour light are together capable of forming white light in one way, and one of the plurality of image elements which is capable of interference emission of white light is capable of forming white light in a different way.

EFFECT: improved colour characteristics of displays.
