FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus for compensating for camera movement includes a first liquid crystal cell, having a pair of parallel transparent plates, and a first voltage source connected to the first liquid crystal cell and capable of forming and changing a first voltage gradient between the plates of the first liquid crystal cell. The apparatus also includes a second liquid crystal cell, having a pair of parallel transparent plates arranged such that, each plate of the second liquid crystal cell is parallel to the plates of the first liquid crystal cell and is in optical connection with at least one light wave passing through the plates of the first liquid crystal cell, a second voltage source connected to the second liquid crystal cell and capable of forming and changing a second voltage gradient between surfaces of the second liquid crystal cell, and a motion detector connected to the voltage sources, for changing the slope of the voltage gradients in proportion to the movement.
