FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to method of producing polymethylmethacrylate. Described is a method of producing polymethylmethacrylate through radical polymerisation in methylmethacrylate mass in the presence of a initiating system, one of the components of which is benzoyl peroxide or azodiisobutyronitrile, characterised by that the second component of the initiating system used is a complex of iron (III) pivalate-anion oxotris(aquo)hexakis(pivalato)triiron(III)-cation ethanol solvate, [Fe3O(OOCCMe3)6(H2O)3]+(OOCCMe3)-·3EtOH, molar ratio real initiator: iron (III) complex is equal to (1.0):(0.1-5.0), and polymerisation is carried out at 30-90°C.
EFFECT: obtaining polymethylmethacrylate with improved characteristics, specifically controlled molecular weight, low polydispersity and high heat resistance.
