FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to production of polymethylmethacrylate. The invention describes a method of producing polymethylmethacrylate through radical polymerisaton in a mass of methylmethacrylate in the presence of an initiating system consisting of an initiator and an additive which is a ferrocene derivative while heating, characterised by that the ferrocene derivative used is 1-[pyridyl-2]-ferrocene or 1-[quinolin-2-yl]ferrocene or 1-[acridin-9-yl]-ferrocene or 1-[pyrazin-2-yl]-ferrocene or 1-[pyrimidin-4-yl]-ferrocene in molar ratio of initiator to additive equal to (0.05-1.00):(0.05-1.5).
EFFECT: obtaining polymethylmethacrylate with improved molecular weight characteristics, elimination of the gel effect, low consumption of components of the initiating system.
