FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention suggests a cathode for electrolytic processes, in particular, applicable for release of hydrogen in electrolysis of chloric alkali, consisting of a nickel substrate provided with a coating containing a protective area comprising palladium, and a physically separate area of catalytic activation, containing platinum or ruthenium, possibly mixed with an oxide of intensely oxidising metal, preferably with chromium or praseodymium oxide. Also the methods are proposed to produce a cathode for electrolytic processes and a cell for electrolysis of alkaline metal chloride brine with such cathode.
EFFECT: improved catalytic activity of the cathode in electrolytic processes, increased duration of its service life.
