METHOD OF PRODUCING METAL-COATED PARTICLES OF PALLADIUM OR PALLADIUM ALLOY Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC B22F1/02 B82B1/00 H01M4/92

Abstract RU 2393942 C2

FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of metal-coated particles of palladium or palladium alloy that can be used as oxygen reduction catalysts in fuel elements. Particles of palladium or palladium alloy that absorbed oxygen are brought in contact with one or several metal salts to produce submonoatomic or monoatomic coat from metal or metal alloy on the surface of aforesaid particles of palladium or palladium alloy that absorbed oxygen. In compliance with one version, particles of palladium or palladium alloy are brought in contact with metal salt or mix of metal salts to be subjected to oxygen effects. To generate electric power, fuel element cathode is brought in contact with oxygen. Note here that cathode comprises particles of palladium or palladium alloy coated by platinum or platinum alloy and connected to electrically conducting substrate, while fuel element anode is brought in contact with fuel source. Note here that cathode and anode stay in electric and chemical contact possible due to mutual contact with medium conducting protons.

EFFECT: producing nano-particles with low content of platinum with high catalytic activity.
