FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method is based on measuring pressure difference at two points of the volume under analysis and involves gathering and transferring pressure from two points of the volume under analysis, lying at different height, to a differential pressure sensor through connection lines containing parting liquid. The connection lines used are at least two capillary lines which are hydraulically linked to differential pressure sensor inputs, where free ends of the connection lines lie horizontally and are rigidly fixed at given points relative the liquid under analysis. Portions of the parting liquid are periodically fed into the connection lines on the side of the differential pressure sensor. Hydrostatic pressure difference in the volume under analysis is measured during the breaks between feeding another portion of parting liquid, and the level or density of the control liquid is determined from the value of the output signal of the differential pressure sensor. The apparatus for realising the method, which includes a differential pressure sensor and connection lines containing the parting liquid, also includes a recording and control unit and two controlled parting liquid feeders, where the connection lines are in form of capillary pipes.
EFFECT: reduced error when measuring the level or density of a liquid in a reservoir, reduced operating expenses in radiochemical production conditions owing to significantly high reliability of operation of the apparatus and repairability thereof.
