FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: emitters are made mechanically from previously sintered porous tungsten sponges impregnated with an active substance, and each emitter is installed into an appropriate hole of the cathode base. Prior to installation of an emitter into a hole of the cathode base, microrelief is arranged on the side surface of the cathode base in the form of a row of ledges arranged in parallel to the axis of this hole. The diameter DT of the circumference passing through the tops of the ledges in the hole of the cathode base is determined based on the condition DT = De - (1÷2)10-2 De, where De - diameter of the emitter.
EFFECT: increased mechanical strength of emitters attachment to the cathode base and provision of stable high and reliable thermal contact of the emitters with the cathode base, and accordingly, the specified emission of the cathode during the long-term service life.
