FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: method includes formation of porous sponge of cathode by means of pressing-in high-melting metal powder into molybdenum cup, saturation of porous sponge at temperature of 1700-1800° in hydrogen with active substance (AS) such as powder of barium-calcium aluminate or aluminium silicate, cooling them down to room temperature, removing hardened molten AS from surfaces of the cup and porous sponge, air-dying and mechanical treatment. High-melting metal powder is pressed into molybdenum cup the inner height of which is enough to form in it a porous sponge with allowance not less than 0.2 mm relative to preset operating thickness of sponge. The cup with the porous sponge is put into a container made of molybdenum, is filled with AS powder which is heated until molten state and the porous sponge is saturated providing full coverage of cup with porous sponge by molten AS. To remove hardened molten AS from surfaces of cup and porous sponge the container with cup accommodating porous sponge and hardened molten AS covering them are placed into ammonia-water mixture and keep in it until complete cleaning cup and porous sponge surfaces of molten active substance, whereupon cup with porous sponge is air-dried, and porous sponge allowance is removed and emitting cathode surface is formed by mechanical treatment.
EFFECT: speed-up of cathode manufacturing process and lowering its labor consumption due to reduction of time for excess AS removal from cup and cathode porous sponge surfaces, and lowering total water consumption.
