FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: sea level gauge has an electromagnetic location sensor for the position of the sea level relative a receiving-transmitting antenna. The sensor is mounted on the upper aerial base of a vertical cylindrical damper, fixed relative the earth's geoid, whose level relative the geoid is known. The lower base of the damper is rounded and tightly rests at the bottom in the coastal area of the sea. On the level of the lower base, there is a throttle which links the inner vessel of the damper with the sea surface. Also, the beam pattern of the receiving-transmitting antenna of the gauge is directed downwards in the direction of the gravitational force and is aligned along the axis of the damper, the height of the aerial part of which above the average level of a calm sea is not less than the maximum expected rise of the sea level.
EFFECT: device enables automatic measurement in continuous or standby mode for a long period of time, while transmitting data to coastal synoptic stations, emergency services or the Internet, the device can be programmed to detect extreme deviations and an alarm signal.
