FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: shell containing magnesium is loaded to tight reactor. Reactor for maintaining the process temperature of 800-900°C is placed into shaft furnace. Mixture of tetrachlorides of silicone and carbon at molar ratio of 1:1 is cooled to temperature of (-5)-(-20)°C and thermally controlled at constant mixing. Then, cooled mixture of chlorides of silicone and carbon is supplied to warmed reactor. Exposure and cooling of reactor is performed. Removal of excess magnesium and magnesium chlorides is performed by vacuum separation at temperature of 960-980°C. The obtained silicone carbide is crushed and analysed.
EFFECT: invention allows obtaining homogeneous polycrystalline silicone carbide with high content of fixed carbon.
