A method for determining an immortalised cancer cell is disclosed. Described also is a cancer cell immortalisation marker which is a polynucleotide. An antibody to said marker is disclosed. Described is a reagent for determining an immortalised cancer cell, comprising at least one member selected from a group consisting of a marker gene and an antibody. A method for screening a substance for suppressing proliferation of immortalised cancer cells is disclosed. An immortalised cancer cell growth inhibitor containing said polynucleotide as an active ingredient is disclosed.
