SUBSTANCE: method of producing nitrobenzene involves gas-phase nitration of benzene with diluted nitric acid in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst containing a perforated ion-exchange polymer with terminal sulphonate groups in amount of 1.0 to 39 wt %, and silicon oxide, the precursor of which is organic silicates tetraethyl orthosilicate, tetramethyl orthosilicate, tetrapropyl orthosilicate and tetrabutyl orthosilicate.
EFFECT: improved method.
