FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a heterophase propylene copolymer which is β-nucleated, synthesis and use thereof, as well as tubes, layers in multilayer tubes and coatings on steel tubes made from said β-nucleated propylene copolymer. The heterophase propylene copolymer contains a propylene matrix (A) consisting of a propylene homopolymer or a propylene copolymer, and an elastomeric copolymer (B) containing propylene and at least another C2 and/or C4-C10 α-olefin. The elastomeric phase has characteristic viscosity measured in tetraline at 135°C equal to or less than 4.0 dl/g.

EFFECT: heterophase propylene copolymer is characterised by melt flow rate MFR2 (230°C) less than 0,7 g/10 min, high impact resistance at low temperatures, while maintaining high level of other properties; also, the material has relatively low melting point compared to standard heterophase propylene copolymers, which also improves properties of the disclosed material.
