FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: method involves encoding the measurement range of a device using signalling mask slits, forming an image of the signalling slit in the plane of the receiving CCD (CMOS) matrix and transmitting the obtained image to a computing unit. The measurement range of the device is encoded on a two-reading scheme. The rough reading channel in form of a single signalling slit lies in the central zone of the mask, and the precise reading channel in form of N signalling slits, where N>>1, lies in the peripheral zone of the mask. The device for realising said method has a control element on the object, said control element consisting of a mask with signalling slits, an illuminator and a lens, and a measuring unit having a lens, a CCD (CMOS) matrix which operates as a photodetector, as well as a computing unit. The control element and the measuring unit are placed coaxially with each other. The mask has a peripheral annular zone of the precise reading channel with N signalling slits and a central zone of the rough reading channel with one signalling slit.
EFFECT: high accuracy of angle measurement.
