FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: device has a light source, a combined structure made from a transparent optical mask and a diffuser and a detector. The light source is adapted to form an initial reference beam. The combined structure is placed on the path of the returning beam which results from reflection of the initial reference beam from an object outside the device. The detector is aligned to receive said reflected beam after passing through the transparent optical mask and scattering by the diffuser.
EFFECT: high measurement accuracy.
