FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: in the method, intensity of the measuring signal is determined at several analysed points on the valuable document. The signal intensity gradient values are determined for one or more selected groups of analysed points located on the valuable document, primarily along defined directions. By associating gradient values corresponding to one group of analysed points, the degree of association is determined, which characterises that group of analysed points and enables to quantitatively evaluate to what degree a high gradient value entirely exists in a specific group of analysed points. Based on the relatively high degree of association, presence of a separating line on the area where the selected group of analysed points is located can be determined.
EFFECT: high reliability of detecting forged documents made from separate parts of valuable documents.
