FIELD: nuclear power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear power engineering and can be used in handling radioactive wastes for processing by thermal methods. Method of processing radioactive wastes involves thermal decomposition of radioactive wastes, afterburning of gaseous pyrolysis products and cleaning off gases. Radioactive wastes are preheated at t 50–70 °C in drying reactor. Then they are sent to a pyrolysis reactor, in which radioactive wastes are thermally decomposed at t in range from 350 °C up to 400 °C in an inert gas medium with constant activation of the process of processing wastes by a mechanical method.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce as much as possible the volume of radioactive wastes and entrainment of radionuclides with exhaust gases.
