FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal processing of carbon-containing materials. Method for decontaminating radioactive wastes of organic origin involves low-temperature pyrolysis of radioactive wastes of organic origin by thermal decomposition, in the temperature range, in a chemically active medium, into which radioactive wastes of organic origin are placed. Decontamination of radioactive wastes of organic origin is carried out in a temperature range of 300÷800 °C in two steps. At the first stage, in the process of drying organic radioactive wastes in a chemically active medium, dioxins are discharged from organic radioactive wastes in a liquid state. At the second stage, organic radioactive wastes are decontaminated after removal of dioxins from them in a liquid state, by thermal decomposition, in a chemically active medium, by removing gases from radioactive wastes and separating the dry residue.
EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of decontaminating organic radioactive wastes.
