FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: working gas contains the main gas and additive in magnetohydrodynamic generator with solar drive containing radiation receiver, channel with electrodes and magnetic system. Radiation receiver includes chamber with heat-insulating walls, the inner surfaces of which are coated with heat radiation reflecting substance. It includes hollow heating element with gas permeable walls and with a gap relative to its walls; heating element is combined with channel inlet and outlet hole of chamber. In outlet section of channel coaxially to it there installed is inlet element of concentrated solar radiation, which is made from heat-resisting material. Generator includes additional radiation source the radiation wave length of which corresponds to length of wave determined with excitation energy of additive atoms or is not more than length of wave determined with ionisation energy of its atoms.
EFFECT: increasing efficiency coefficient owing to increase in conductivity of ionised gas at higher temperature internal and decrease of relationship of efficiency coefficient and spectrum characteristics of concentrated solar radiation; reduction of heat losses in chamber and channel.
