FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy particularly to methods of producing piston pings. The method involves producing circular cylindrical workpieces by pressing a powder mixture in a die mould, removing them, sintering and subsequent machining of the ends and cylindrical surfaces. At the same time at the ends of workpieces after machining nicks and marks are made and fractures are made on diametric section. Then the rings end surfaces are ground in the fracture places and the rings are assembled by pairwise assembly of their similar parts in the piston grooves with no gaps in the joints.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of the method, reduced labour input, increased performance of piston rings.
