FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming, particularly, to tooling for ingot and billet forging from various steels and alloys. Four-head forging device comprises articulated holders of top, bottom and side heads. Side head holder lengthwise cross-section approximates to trapezoid. Center of gravity of ''side head holder-side head'' system does not extends beyond limits of side head holder cross-section. The device incorporates guides mounted either on head holder side surfaces, or on inclined head holder surfaces in longitudinal plane of symmetry, or on both. Inner surfaces of said guides embrace surfaces of adjacent head holders to make an interlock. Bottom section of inclined surface of every side head holder has ledges against which antifriction plates thrust. Maximum width of head working surface (bmax) and antifriction plate sliding surface 1 are related by the following relationship bmax/1 ≤ 1.5.
EFFECT: higher reliability, efficiency and quality.
