MAGNESIUM ALLOY HEAT TREATMENT METHOD Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC C22F1/06

Abstract RU 2454479 C2

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: low-temperature heat treatment of alloy involves the following stages: (a) providing an alloy capable of strengthening during ageing on the basis of magnesium which is treated with homogenising annealing and hardened, and (b) carrying out the low-temperature ageing of the above alloy at temperature below 100 °C during the period of time required for development of improved response to ageing. Aged alloy contains disperse allocations like Guinier-Preston (GP) zones, including flat GP1 and prismatic GP2 disperse allocations perpendicular to the main magnesium plane.

EFFECT: formation of fine allocations of high number density and improvement of hardness and ductility of alloy.
