FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ship building, particularly, to control over ship stability at rough sea. Proposed method consists in measuring angular speeds and displacement at rolling, ship after draught and forward draught, ''apparent'' wave period, relative bearing and speed at random sea, water depth, and parameters of sea breaking at shallow water. Results of measurements are used to compute characteristics of breaking waves, define actual parameters of dynamics of interaction of ship with ambient medium to determine ship stability at wave shock in conditions of fast drift.
EFFECT: higher safety of navigation.
