FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves reacting a polymer solution in an organic solvent with an epoxidation agent. The epoxidation agent used is a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and sodium bicarbonate. Concentration of hydrogen peroxide in the reaction medium is kept in the range of 0.05-0.3 mol/l and that of sodium bicarbonate is kept at 0.3-0.6 mol/l. Reactants react in molar ratio 1,2-polybutadiene: hydrogen peroxide = 1:1-3 at temperature 20-25°C for 15-25 hours and pH of the reaction medium 8-8.5. Atactic or syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene with number-average molecular weight Mn from 1000 to 150000 and content of 1,2-polymerisation links in macromolecules of 70-85 mol % is used.
EFFECT: method of producing epoxidated 1,2-polybutadienes, which improves quality of the end product, excludes chemically aggressive reactants - organic acids and reduces power consumption.
