FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: as diagnostic parameter of plunger pair state there used is value determined according to the following ratio: where pmax - fuel pressure developed with the checked high pressure fuel pump section after the specified number of diesel operating cycles nc is completed from the beginning of fuel pressure rise in closed cavity; - correction coefficient of active plunger travel; - cyclic supply of reference section of high pressure fuel pump, which is determined at start-up revolutions of diesel crankshaft at absence of backpressure created with injector and standard high pressure fuel line and characterises the nominal conditional active plunger travel; - cyclic supply of the checked high pressure fuel pump section, which is determined at start-up revolutions of diesel crankshaft at absence of backpressure created with injector and standard high pressure fuel line and characterising the actual conditional active plunger travel; α - power coefficient characterising the wear degree and microgeometry of friction surfaces at sleeve-plunger interface point; v°c -temperature coefficient taking into account the change in viscosity characteristics of fuel with reference to its temperature, and nc is chosen depending on vh. Device includes housing with closed cavity inside it, inlet connection, fuel pressure metre, adjustable safety valve, throttle valve and removable delivery valve at the closed cavity inlet, which is provided with devices for connection of the inlet of the above valve to connection of the checked high pressure fuel pump section, and outlet of valve - to inlet connection 2.

EFFECT: improving reliable determination of the state of plunger pairs of high pressure fuel pump, which have different wear degree.
