FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pressure sealing glass with a titanium alloy and a kovar wire when making photoelectric radiation detectors and other vacuum-tube devices installed on spacecraft. A copper layer and then a titanium layer are deposited on the kovar wire. A titanium coating is deposited on the inner surface of cylindrical holes in the titanium housing. Units of the current leads and glass insulator are assembled. The glass insulator is made from optical glass with the following composition in wt %: SiO2 - 69.13, B2O3 - 10.75, As2O3 - 0.36, BaO - 3.07, K2O - 6.29, Na2O - 10.40. Units of the current leads are fit into the cylindrical holes in the titanium housing. The assembly of units of current leads and the glass insulator in the titanium housing are sintered at temperature higher than the melting point of the material of the glass insulator, held at that temperature and then cooled to room temperature.
EFFECT: high quality of connecting a kovar wire to glass and a titanium housing.
