FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: ceramic body 30, containing wavelength-converting material lying on the path of light emitted by the light-emitting region 31 of a semiconductor structure 12, having a light-emitting region lying between an n-type region and a p-type region. A layer of transparent material 36 also lies on the path of light emitted by the light-emitting region. The transparent material can connect the ceramic body and the semiconductor structure. Particles 45 formed for diffusing light emitted by the light-emitting region lie in a layer of adhesive material. In certain versions, these particles are a luminophore; in certain versions, these particles are of material which does not convert wavelength.
EFFECT: possibility of improving uniformity of output of mixed light from the device and improving colour characteristics of the mixed light.
