FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to solve the problem of nulling the beam pattern of planar phased antenna arrays by changing only the excitation phase of elements thereof. The phase method of nulling the beam pattern of a planar phased antenna array involves estimating the level of the quiescent pattern of an N-element phased antenna array in the direction of interference, selecting in the aperture two M-element subarrays lying at the edges of the initial, and making phase adjustments, with negative sign for elements of the same subarray and a positive sign for elements of another subarray. For nulling the beam pattern of a planar phased antenna array in the direction of interference, two angular coordinates of the direction of interference are given θn and φn, after estimating the level of the quiescent pattern of the N-element phased antenna array, excitation of its equivalent linear aperture is calculated in a section whose inclination angle is equal to the value of the interference coordinate φn, after selecting in the equivalent linear aperture two M-element subarrays lying on its edges, phase values of adjustments of these subarrays are selected equal to the absolute value based on the condition of the given hole depth and the interference coordinate θn, phases of radiators of the planar phased antenna array, which form M-element subarrays of the equivalent linear aperture, are changed by the value of phase adjustments.
EFFECT: improved method.
