FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radar ranging and can be used in radar stations with cylindrical (circular) phased antenna array. Said result is achieved by the fact that in a radar station with a cylindrical (circular) phased antenna array, which provides the required beam pattern due to formation of phase shifts of signals on each of the emitters located in a circumferential direction in a horizontal plane, having identical beam patterns connected to the transmitting and receiving systems, in the receiving signals, measuring the phase difference on different antenna array radiators arranged in a circumferential direction in the horizontal plane, then obtained phase differences are compared, and value of elevation angle is determined from obtained values of phase difference. To generate different phase shifts of signals on each emitter, two microwave signals of different frequency can be used to obtain the required beam pattern at different elevation angles.
EFFECT: technical result of the proposed invention is unambiguous measurement of elevation angle of radar targets by a radar station with a cylindrical (circular) phased antenna array with increase in the detection zone at different elevation angles.
