FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention aims at increasing durability of rolls used in hot rolling of sheets and strips. Proposed method comprises feeding air-water mix to roll barrel section at the zone of exit from deformation zone. Reduction in roll overheating, heat cracking and thermal wear out is ensured by controlling specific water consumption Q and air pressure P using preset relations that allow for rolled metal surface temperature, roll diameter, rolling speed and reduction at stand.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of cooling.
