SUBSTANCE: method of transmitting a signal containing a plurality of data entities through a network involves receiving the signal at a terminal, determining transmission delay of at least one data entity, estimating a first transmission delay component, determining a second transmission delay component by removing the first transmission delay component from the transmission delay and determining delay in the receiving device which must be applied between reception in the terminal and output from the terminal of one of said plurality of data entities, depending on the second transmission delay component.
