FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: microseismic zoning method involves placing analysed and reference observation points on areas with different geological engineering conditions. The reference observation points are also placed under business facilities. The distance between observation points does not exceed 1/3-1/4 of the wavelength of seismic vibrations with the highest frequency, which form information-bearing amplitude fluctuations, and the distance between profiles is equal to 1/3-1/4 of the minimum spatial period of information-bearing amplitude fluctuations of the high-frequency range of seismic vibrations. High-frequency seismic vibrations which form information-bearing amplitude fluctuations of seismic vibrations are selected on space-time volumes of discrete measurements by constructing a Cayley tree. A collection of measurements is automatically selected from the entire range of measurements, having minimum measurement error. The measurements with minimum measurement error are used to establish the extreme value of the seismic vibration based on which damage by the extreme value of seismic vibrations is determined.
